The Passage - Fairytale Version

Mythologies are filled with wondrous worlds and stranger shores,
With realms beyond the waters to explore.
Magical creatures, distant unknown lands,
Ways to learn more and to expand
That which we think we know.
The urge to find and to discover and to grow
Has long directed our fate.
Together with the need to understand and to create,
We’ve sailed the seas, found many lands and beings there to name,
And yet the mysteries of the passage shall remain.

Some say, there is an island hidden in the mist,
A world where sprites and fae exist.
A world only revealed to seekers of pure heart.
A place of magic, healing, ancient art.
Wisdom and wonder called us out to find this shore
And ponder legends lost and found once more.
A place where those who went before
Still linger for a while,
The lost and legendary isle.

Some spoke to me of places underneath the waves
Which open up to those souls who are brave
Enough to leave their element behind.
Brave to explore the wonders they may find
They say it is a realm of otherworldly voices and of myths unseen,
Of fins and flukes, kelp forests dancing in the stream.
It is beneath the surface that we find
These strangest creatures of a kind
So like and so unlike our own.
Their ancient stories long were known
To those who sailed the seas and tides.
It is a place where watery fairytales abide.
The tales of those who deep within the oceans dwell,
And time and time again we find ourselves enchanted by the spell
Cast through their otherworldly song,
Which speaks of ebb and flow long gone.

Some seek no magical nor promised land,
For them the greatest journey is to understand
What lies beyond the setting sun.
The world itself is wondrous enough for those who choose to see the fun
Within the quest of sailing out beyond the known.
The tides less travelled, where true character is shown.
A new horizon, awaiting to be found and seen,
The journey as the neverending dream.

Some claimed that all the distant lands we seek
Are just expressions of a wish to understand the deep
Within ourselves. The truth that speaks so clearly from inside.
Once disidentified from wind and tide
We find that depth and surface form a whole.
And we are both of these combined inside our soul.

Whichever version and whichever view,
Whichever guiding star is up to you.
Whichever tale it be, it leaves us with a mission,
For every passage is but a transition.
A vision quest, that leads us to the next endeavor.
My friend, it could go on like this, forever.
